Moelleux

Typically designates a wine with a moderate to high level of sweetness, though the term—which translates to "mellow," "soft" or "smooth"—may not necessarily represent the same measurement of residual sugar from one region to another. In France’s Alsace, moelleux is used specifically for wines with sugar content between 12 g/l and 45 g/l. The term may be used more arbitrarily by producers in other regions, such as Bordeaux and the Loire Valley, where it sometimes appears on the label for wines with more residual sugar than 45 g/l.
