Great wine doesn’t have to cost a fortune! In fact, our Tasting Highlights primarily features high-quality wines priced less than $50. But there's plenty be found for even less, including many great options for a casual night at home. That’s on display in this week's lineup. With scores up to 93 points, these excellent value wines are all priced less than $30, showing that there's a great deal of pleasure to be had without going all out on a high-priced wine. (And that's not even to mention Wine Spectator's Top 10 Values of 2023.)

The white wines, below, come from four countries and represent four grape varieties: Chardonnay, Pinot Gris (aka Pinot Grigio), Riesling and Albariño. While value Pinot Gris is often associated with Italy, you can find delicious, affordable versions from the United States: Elk Cove's bottling comes from Oregon's Willamette Valley, and it offers an elegant approach to one of the world's most popular wine grapes. Meanwhile, German Rieslings can offer enticing, mouthwatering acidity that pairs wonderfully with a variety of foods. There are two examples in this selection; each sits at just $13 and provides a rewarding opportunity to add a different grape variety to your rotation.

This selection also features Vasse Felix's Chardonnay Margaret River Filius 2023, the top-scoring wine here, which is expressive with citrus, floral and pepper notes. Read on and get our score and full tasting note for this fantastic value wine and 11 others!
